Community Involvement

meeting the diverse needs of clients and the community by providing opportunities for clients to give back while fostering positive experiences for people in the community to meet and work with people with disabilities

CAPS (Community Awareness Possibilities and Supports)

MRI’s CAPS program was developed in 2008 for individuals who wanted to participate in a non-traditional community-based Developmental Training program. CAPS participants participate in a variety of educational, social, and volunteering opportunities each day, Monday-Friday.

These opportunities include, but are not limited to the following:

In addition, CAPS groups will visit museums, explore and learn about different cultures, experience services that are available to them from their community. Each CAPS group has input into developing their monthly calendar which makes the program specific to each group.

The CAPS program provides opportunities for individuals who are receiving services to connect with the community and community members intensively through daily, full-day programming.  CAPS also allows members of the community to interact with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities and to see they are a person just like everyone else.

Macon Resources, Inc. focuses on meeting the diverse needs of clients and the community by providing opportunities for clients to give back while fostering positive experiences for people in the community to meet and work with people with disabilities.
