Advocates Unite! at Speak Up Speak Out 2024

The long-awaited Speak Up Speak Out Summit has come and gone!

Speak Up Speak Out (SUSO) is an annual event that pushes for the empowerment of those with disabilities and helps them find their voice. This year we celebrated all week long with games, gatherings and empowering one another.
This year, we hosted an “Advocates Unite!” Rally for our persons served and approximately 60 guests from several other service providers, that offered a mental health presentation followed by lunch and a basketball tournament.
WAND News, Herald and Review and WICS Channel 20 reported on the event.

But that wasn’t the end of the fun!
Epilepsy Bingo

We had a guest come in to teach some of our persons served about epilepsy through a game of bingo. They learned what epilepsy is, who it can affect and how they can best serve those when an epileptic seizure occurs.
No better way to celebrate than a fabulous Fashion Show!
The event was all about empowering our stars to shine and feel like the superstars they truly are. From the runway to the spotlight, we’re here to celebrate their creativity and confidence!

Herald and Review reported on the event and even had some of our advocates in the newspaper!

15 Local businesses visited MRI for Empowerment Fair!
We were thrilled to have 15 incredible participants share their opportunities and insights with our persons served. Their presence not only showcased the variety of resources available in our community but also inspired and empowered everyone who attended.

No better way to celebrate than to dance it out!
Our ending to the week long celebration was a dance party, which everyone loved!

It was heartwarming to see so many people come together to reflect on how powerful our voices are. Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their stories, and made this event a success.
Let’s keep the spirit of speaking up and supporting one another alive! Here’s to all the connections made and the stories that will continue to inspire us.
