MRI Hosts Third Annual Field Day

After postponing the regularly scheduled field day in May due to weather, Macon Resources was thrilled to finally host community Field Day on September 8, 2022. Along with regularly scheduled events like the cookout, music, and kickball, MRI also presented two inaugural awards.

The first award presented on Field Day was the Champions of Change award. The Champions of Change Award was presented to the President of Millikin University, Dr. Jim Reynolds, for their significant contributions to the betterment of MRI and the persons served. Millikin University supports MRI throughout the year with programs like athletics, nursing, art, drama, the business office, and their internship program. Amy Bliefnick, CEO of Macon Resources, stated “Macon Resources is so blessed to have such great support with this community. Millikin is an outstanding supporter of our mission and a worthy recipient of this honor.”

The next award presented was the Individual of Impact Award. The Individual of Impact Award was presented to person served Willa Mae Watkins. This award is given to a person served at MRI who has made great strides in the areas of growth, self-worth, and independence over the past year. Willa Mae is the oldest person served at MRI and she radiates a positive attitude that impacts others around her. According to Ryan Raleigh, MRI’s Chief Operating Officer, “she always greets everyone with a smile and has an infectious personality.”

“I am as thankful for this program as this gives my child anopportunity to learn teamwork, be with her peers and have fun. If not for this program, she would have been at home watching television and playing video games.”
